Selected challenges, approaches, and outcomes. Click to expand.

Challenge
A rapidly growing backend composed of 20+ independent microservices communicating through API gateways left QA with no coherent integration coverage. Each service had its own contract, versioning, and failure behaviour — and manual regression across all of them before each release was becoming unsustainable as the platform scaled.
Approach
Designed a layered API automation strategy: contract-level validation at the gateway layer, service-level integration tests per microservice, and cross-service scenario coverage for critical user journeys (authentication, content delivery, subscription management). Built with TypeScript and integrated into CI/CD so every deployment triggered full regression automatically.
Outcome
Full automated coverage across all 20+ microservices — gateway contracts, integration boundaries, and inter-service dependencies. Reduced pre-release API regression effort by 70% and surfaced distributed failure scenarios that manual testing had not detected.

Challenge
Smart TV platforms are notoriously hard to automate — fragmented OS versions, proprietary SDKs, and the complexity of validating media playback behaviour (buffering, bitrate switching, DRM) alongside advertisement delivery make emulator-based testing insufficient. Bugs that only appeared on real hardware were escaping to production and generating significant user complaints.
Approach
Built a real-device E2E automation framework targeting the primary Smart TV platforms in the Prima portfolio. Automated player state machine validation — play, pause, seek, bitrate adaptation, error recovery — combined with mid-roll and pre-roll advertisement delivery verification. Tests ran against live streaming and VOD content to replicate actual viewer conditions rather than mocked endpoints.
Outcome
Caught a class of advertisement delivery bugs and player state regressions that had previously only surfaced in production. Gave the team confidence to ship Smart TV releases faster — with automated coverage acting as a quality gate that replaced lengthy manual device sessions.

Challenge
Payment and subscription flows are the highest-risk user journeys on any streaming platform — failures here directly translate to lost revenue and user churn. These flows involved multiple third-party payment providers, complex subscription state transitions, and conditional UI branching that made them difficult to cover reliably with traditional scripted tests.
Approach
Implemented a Playwright-based web E2E suite with an agentic-driven test strategy — using AI-assisted scenario generation to identify edge cases across subscription tiers, payment methods, and failure paths. Tests covered the full lifecycle: plan selection, payment processing, confirmation, subscription management, cancellation, and re-subscription flows. The suite ran headlessly in CI with visual diff alerting on UI regressions.
Outcome
End-to-end coverage of all critical payment and subscription paths, with automated regression running on every deployment. Identified several conditional-flow bugs before production release. The agentic approach surfaced edge cases in subscription state handling that scripted-only tests had missed.

Challenge
Advertising is a core revenue stream — yet ad system validation sits at the intersection of frontend rendering, third-party ad servers, player lifecycle events, and content metadata. Modern HTML5 video players add further complexity: adaptive bitrate switching, DRM-protected streams, and concurrent ad insertion create a combinatorial test surface that changes with every player SDK update or ad platform configuration change.
Approach
Developed a dedicated QA strategy for the ad ecosystem — mapping ad insertion points (pre-roll, mid-roll, post-roll, overlays) against player state events to detect timing conflicts, impression misfires, and ad skip logic failures. Combined automated browser-based tests with manual exploratory sessions targeting edge cases in player–ad coordination. Created a validation matrix across supported browsers, player versions, and content types.
Outcome
Systematic coverage of the ad delivery pipeline across player versions and content scenarios. Identified and resolved timing-related impression errors that had caused revenue discrepancies. The validation matrix became a shared reference for product, ad operations, and engineering during player updates and ad platform migrations.
